The Grati family has produced wine for three
generations. They began as a negociant operation that bought and sold Rufina
wines. In 1934 the Grati family bought Fattoria di Galiga, twenty years later
acquiring Fattoria Vetrice, and completing their holdings with Fattoria di
Marte. They currently hold 562 hectares of which 100 are under vine-
one-fifth of the total vineyard area of Rufina. They are second only to
Frescobaldi in terms of production.Their superbly sited hillside vineyards lie in a natural
amphitheatre where the valley of the Sieve broadens above Rufina. Due to this
excellent location, where, thanks to a southerly exposure, the grapes ripen
under a daylong sun, and with the strictest selection of fruit, the family
produces wines that age well, and with great character and elegance at every
stage. Production Zone: Hills between
Pontassieve and Rùfina, DOC Chianti Rùfina east of Firenze Grape variety: 90% Sangiovese, 7% Canaiolo, 3% Colorino Color: Ruby red evolving towards garnet with aging. Nose: A fruity bouquet, packed with fresh cherry
flavors, and hints of blackberry and dried fruits. Palate: A dry and slightly tannic taste that gains
finesse with time. Food matches: Grilled red meats, game, pasta and aged
cheeses. Serving
